How old is the furniture in your home?  How well has it endured with age and use and has it maintained its beauty to be passed on to the next generation?  A good woodshop program develops the talents and skills of students to perform craftmanship that will produce workmanship that will endure the test of time and withstand the pressures of use and retain the beauty of the design.  A good Christian woodshop program will go beyond to instill a faith in Jesus Christ that will last, that will endure through the storms and trials of life, and that will remain beautiful and strong as it is passed on to future generations.

Careers in this Field:

  •  Carpenter
  •  Mill Worker
  •  Contractor
  •  Proprietor
  •  Wood Designer
  •  Sales Manager
  •  Construction
  •   Instructor

This program is designed to develop proper technique to use hand tools and power tools, instill the skills of basic finishing, joinery construction, mechanical drawing, furniture fabrication, shop management, tool making and wood carving.

Instruction will be designed to meet the curriculum requirements necessary to qualify students to be prepared to enter the workforce with appropriate certifications and highly respected job skills.

Together with appropriate theory and hands-on training of all the basic craftsmanship, students will be given the opportunity to participate in on-site experiences that will provide an opportunity for skill enhancement as well as preparation to service real customers.

Potential Instructor:  MAO NGUYEN

For the past 25 years Mao Nguyen has successfully used his gifts in the mechanical fields of Woodworking and Goldsmith.  Mao holds a post secondary degree in Cabinetmaker from Thaddeus Stevens Technical College, as well as a Certificate in Jeweler/Goldsmith from Bowman Technical School.  A leader in these business fields, he worked as a manager/supervisor for many of these years.  Mao is excited to give instruction to pass on the talents that the Lord has bestowed upon him to his students so they too can use their skills and talents to bless others and glorify Jesus Christ in their lives.
