Computer Programming Languages have been around since the dawn of the computer age.  Just like the Good News of Jesus Christ has been around since God His Father allowed His Son to create the world.  Upon His Creation the Son Jesus also knew He would someday need to come and redeem His world.

Many times people using computers or the Internet never realize there is a language embedded behind the software on the page. Most times we as creations of Jeus never realize that He is speaking to us and even carrying us by His Holy Spirit. Jesus was very anxious to give us the gift of the Holy Spirit, just like we are very anxious to create code and see how it impacts how a computer works or a web page is developed.

Careers in this Field:
  •  Computer Programmer
  •  Small Business Owner
  •  Data-Entry
  •  Business Technology
     Applications  Instructor
  •  Computer Technician
  •  Facilities Maintenance Technician
  • Systems Administrator
  • Networking Technician

This program is designed to develop students with the skills required to obtain an entry-level position at a variety of employment venues. Capable workers that are computer literate and have marketable skills in Computer Programming are very much in demand.

Instruction will be delivered in the following areas:  XHTML, Visual C++, and possible electives in Visual BASIC, or a language of choice:  Java, Perl, etc.

Students will be instructed with appropriate theory and hands-on training using state-of-the-art computers and virtual technology when applicable.  On-site work experiences and real world service will provide the opportunity to enhance practical skills as well as prepare the student to relate to real world employment.

Potential Instructor:  ERNEST W. CORTY

Mr. Corty will be in charge of the Business Technology applications program at Pathways Tech.  He is a certified, veteran teacher of Computer Science, Computer Applications, Accounting and Traditional Business Education Classes.  He has taught for over 30 years in the public school and small college environment.

Mr. Corty will wear a variety of hats at Pathways Tech but considers his classroom time his most important hat.

NOTE:  There may be some software charges associated with an additional programming language.

ACADEMIC INTEGRATION

Most academic subjects are naturally integrated through the regular course material.  Science is the basis of technology.  Math is essential in understanding formulas in Excel.  Reading comprehension is imperative in understanding program tutorials. Programming classes like XHTML, Visual C++ and others are essential at every level of employment in the Business and many other Career Clusters.  Additionally, skills such as these will enhance advanced study and help each person develop personally to meet their family and individual goals.

BIBLICAL INTEGRATION – CHRISTIAN SERVICE ASSIGNMENT

Students will have opportunity to do ministry by assisting other non-profit organizations, churches, or ministries with problem solving and development of computer programming systems.
