Qualifications & Policy for Hire

  1. Our board members, administrators, teachers and staff must all be born-again believers who exemplify the Christian lifestyle and are prepared to do ministry at a Christian vocational high school.
  2. Applicants are required to obtain three Christian Reference Letters, each attesting to Christian character, quality of vocational ability in the program area, and work ethic.
  3. Applicants must be faithfully attending, actively participating in, and financially supporting a local, evangelical Church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with Pathways Tech's Statement of Faith.
  4. Applicants are required to sign and agree to abide by the school's Declaration of Moral Integrity document.
  5. Our vocational teachers must have a high school graduation diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of three year's experience in the specific trade area they desire to teach.  In academic programs and in some business and technical vocational programs, the Instructor will be required to have an Associate's degree in the vocational program area or a Bachelor's teaching degree in that vocational area. Also, some vocational program areas will require the Instructor to have or obtain specific vocational certifications necessary for teaching and testing.
  6. Our vocational instructors and academic teachers must attend required teaching induction specific to Pathways Tech as a Christian vocational high school and attend required continued professional teacher training classes and workshops to prepare them to take over and conduct a classroom.
  7. Instructors will be required to prepare their own vocational program curriculum that is Biblically integrated. This curriculum must be presented to and approved by Administration before any offer of employment is effective. Administration will set the standard for approval.
  8. To introduce a new vocational program area for consideration as a high school program to be offered, all professional curriculum with intentions and description of Biblical integration, plus a demographic study of the feasibility of the program to be offered, must be submitted to Administration for consideration.
  9. All applicants to be considered for hire (or volunteer positions) by Pathways Tech CCTE must have form SP4-164 (Criminal History Record) completed by the state police.  As of April, 2007, an FBI background check is required for applicants for all positions--applicants must have form FO-253 (FBI Fingerprint Record) completed and then follow steps for completion of Form SP4-164.  These document requests are in accordance with Act 34 of 1985 enacted by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
  10. Additionally, all applicants to be considered for hire (or volunteer positions) by Pathways Tech CCTE must have a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance form completed.
  11. All clearances as stated in #4 and #5 above must be applied for immediately upon the official offer of employment and satisfactory results are necessary to complete the offer of employment.

  13. Applicants completing all of the above requirements may be recognized as a "potential instructor" for a specific vocational or academic course, but until an official offer is made (where a contract is signed), they remain an applicant for consideration and other applicants can be interviewed for the position.
  14. This school complies with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  The hiring of all applicants is contingent upon their ability to present documents establishing their authorization to work in the United States.
